Computer Science Department Mission Statement
The mission of the Computer Science Department is to serve society through excellence in education, research, and service. We provide for our students an education in computer science and computer engineering and we attempt to instill in them the attitudes and values that will prepare them for a lifetime of continued learning and leadership. Through research the Department strives to generate new knowledge and technology for the benefit of everyone.

The mission of the CS Department is focused on three groups:

• Students: For whom we provide a deep understanding of both fundamentals and important current issues in computer science and computer engineering so that they may either obtain productive employment or pursue advanced degrees.



• Faculty: For whom we provide support and material resources needed for them to develop as dedicated scholars, devoted educators and innovative researchers.



• Alumni: For whom we seek to maintain productive ties in order to enhance their opportunities for lifelong learning and leadership, as well as to benefit from their skills, knowledge and experience.
