The following announcement is from [Professors Yue Wang and Daniel Seita]. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.
Professors Yue Wang and Daniel Seita are seeking student volunteers to work on a robotics research project. This project studies robot learning methods that use videos of humans performing tasks to help train robotic manipulation policies. We will specifically be developing a benchmark to compare existing robot learning methods that co-train on action-free human video data and robot demonstration data.
Examples:
The student(s) will collaborate to implement and test algorithms in robotics simulators (such as LBM eval https://github.com/ToyotaResearchInstitute/lbm_eval/tree/main) and on real-world robots. Student(s) will be co-advised by Prof. Wang and Prof. Seita. This project requires a minimum time commitment of 15 hours per week.
Requirements:
- Experience with Python and PyTorch, along with some machine learning background
- Being self-motivated and willing to work on something challenging
- Sending (brief) weekly updates to the research team
- 15+ hours per week
Nice to Have:
- Prior experience in robot learning algorithms for robotics
- Hands-on experience with actual robotic systems
Students will be co-advised on this project by Prof. Wang and Prof. Seita. The application process is handled through the SLURM lab website (Prof. Seita’s lab). If you are interested in this project, please submit an application using the Google form on the SLURM lab website available below for recruiting master’s and undergraduate students at USC: https://slurm-lab-usc.github.io/getting_involved/
The SLURM Lab is not currently advertising other projects, which is why the lab application form does not list open projects. However, we are conducting a targeted search for this specific project now, so please indicate that in the application form. We will interview students throughout the next few weeks.
