Hello,
We are a team of researchers at the University of Texas at Austin. We launched a new project to tackle a core challenge in complex, intelligent systems: how trust forms, how it spreads, and why it sometimes collapses. This visual recognition challenge attempts to explore the interaction between humans and artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of a high-stakes task. Your participation will help us explore how collaboration with AI can influence human decision making.
Criteria for participation in this study:
- Age 18+
- Have a U.S. address
- An email ends with .edu
- No severe vision loss or blindness
We anticipate the study to take less than 30 minutes to complete. Participants who complete the study before January 31st are eligible to win a prize between $50 and $200.
During this study, the participants will be working alongside an AI system to complete a scored visual recognition task. Final score will be based on how many points the participant accumulate in the experimental phases of the task, represented by a final score with penalties included for each use of AI assistance, incorrect answers, and failure to answer within the time limit. The top twenty scorers will receive a prize as follows:
- 1st – 5th place: $200
- 6th – 10th place: $100
- 11th – 20th place: $50
