The following announcement is from Professor Joon-Ho Choi. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.

Dear colleagues and students,

My name is Joon-Ho Choi, a professor of Architecture with a joint appointment in Computer Science.

My colleagues and I plan to organize a Boy Scout merit badge training on AI as part of community outreach, inviting Scout members and their parents to campus.

We are looking for five volunteers — faculty, postdocs, or graduate/undergraduate students, all equally welcome — to speak at an AI outreach event for high school scouting students.

Title: Scout’s Merit Badge in A.I.

What: Scouting America launched its first-ever Artificial Intelligence merit badge last year. Demand from troops has far outstripped the supply of people who can teach it. We’re hosting a day that gets about 60-80 high schoolers from troops across the region through the badge content.

When: November 7 (Sat), 11:00–5:00 PM
Where: USC campus (a large auditorium will be decided later)
Audience: 60~80 students, mostly 8th–12th grade
