The following announcement is from [Assistant Professor Angela Zhou]. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.
We have ML and optimization research positions available for projects related to interactive optimization and autoformalization via LLMs. We are interested in learning safety constraints and analysts from interactions with data analysts in different settings including causal inference, robust ML, and reward learning.
Requirements
-
Strong background in optimization (algorithms, linear programming, convex, etc), probability/statistics, and/or machine learning
-
Interest in NLP and decision-making under uncertainty
-
Background in interest in working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and autoformalization (writing and modifying optimization problems from natural language descriptions and instructions)
A paid stipend is potentially available for the summer depending on scope and fit. The scope of work is determined by milestones, and your experience and availability. For undergraduates interested in research authorship, we can discuss expanded opportunities for exploration in ongoing research projects.
This summer, you may also join the DSO Summer Scholars program for ongoing research community: https://sites.usc.edu/dsosummerscholars/ (Please apply there by April 15 as well if this summer research project is of interest to you).
To apply, please fill out this form: Research Recruitment Google Form
