The following announcement is from [ICT]. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.
The USC Institute for Creative Technologies (ICT) is seeking one (1) student worker to join the team as an AI/Graphics Student Researcher. The Geospatial Terrain Research (GTR) team focuses on applied research efforts for capabilities that support a fully geo-referenced 3D planetary model for use in the Army’s next-generation training and simulation environments. For this new research initiative, we aim to build a generative AI model for enhancing the 3D terrains to create high resolution output from lower quality remote sensing data. This is analogous to the recent image synthesis research (i.e. Stable Diffusions) that generates new images from input conditions. Please note that this is a multi-year project so the successful candidate should still be enrolled *after* Summer 2025. Please do not apply unless you meet these criteria.
We have one (1) opening for the AI/Graphics Student Researcher position. The student will work with ICT researchers to leverage computer vision methods for 3D terrain generation and synthesis. The ideal candidate should have solid knowledge in machine learning and proficiency with Python and PyTorch. Previous experience working with large scale satellite imagery or 3D terrain data is desired.
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with machine learning development (Python, Pytorch).
• Experience or courseworks in deep learning or computer vision.
• Interest/experience in computer vision topics such as semantic segmentations, object detections, or multi-modal vision-language models.
• Knowledge of working with generative modeling techniques such as diffusion models is a plus.
To apply, please email your CV and cover letter to Robert Fuchs at fuchs@ict.usc.edu, with the subject line “Application for <AI_Graphics_Researcher>”. Please name your CV and cover letter files as <your_full_name>_CV.pdf and <your_full_name>_cover_letter.pdf.
