The following announcement is from [USC Center for AI in Society]. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.
Call for Abstracts
The USC Center for AI in Society is hosting an all-day, in-person symposium on Friday, April 11th on the USC campus. This event will highlight the work of students and faculty using AI for social justice, and will include lunch and refreshments. We invite USC faculty, postdoctoral scholars, graduate and undergraduate students, staff, and USC CAIS alumni to submit an abstract to our event.
Guidelines
We are most excited about projects that involve both engineering (e.g., computer science, operations research, data science) and social/environmental disciplines (e.g., social work, public health, public policy, climate). We also welcome abstracts that are primarily set in one discipline with implications for the other. For example, technical abstracts should have social good applications; social/environmental papers should discuss opportunities to apply AI to their studies. The presentation can focus on new work, or work that was recently presented or submitted to a conference. We invite abstracts to be submitted to one of three main themes: environmental justice; health, mental health, and equity; and homelessness. If your work fits the greater AI for social impact theme, but is outside of one of these three areas, please feel free to submit.
If you are interested in presenting a poster or oral talk about your work, please use this Google form to submit a pdf of a 500-word unstructured abstract. This form will also ask you to provide 3 keywords and indicate whether you prefer a poster or oral presentation.
For examples of past presentations, you can view the ShowCAIS 2024 or ShowCAIS 2023 websites for more information.
***Monetary prizes will be awarded to the best student presentations.***
Timeline
Abstracts must be submitted by Friday, February 7th, 5 p.m. PT for consideration.
Decision notices will be sent out on Friday, February 21st.
