[UG/MS] Research study recruitment

The following announcement is from HaRVI Lab. Please contact them directly if you have any questions.

The HaRVI (Haptics Robotics and Virtual Interaction) lab is conducting an IRB-approved user study to explore how sub-threshold (imperceptible) electrical stimuli (stochastic resonance) applied to the base of the non-dominant palm affect tactile texture discrimination and identification. We would like to invite you to participate in our study.
The experiment has two phases:
  1. Sensitivity Calibration
  2. The Actual Experiment
Prior to calibration, we will affix electrodes to the base of your non-dominant palm to calibrate your electrical signal sensitivity threshold. After calibration, you will hold a cylindrical vibration device and perform a texture discrimination/identification task. You will be asked to identify textures against a test sample from two choices while wearing noise-canceling headphones.
  • Location: Ronald Tutor Hall, 4th floor, RTH 416/A
  • Duration: The entire experiment will take about 40–45 minutes.
  • Registration Link: https://calendar.app.google/JaVWKSSmGxqiGP6Z6
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us at fangtaoz@usc.edu or sandeep.kollannur@usc.edu.
Best regards,
Fangtao / Sandeep
